Kazoo
A kazoo is not a typical wind instrument, moreover it belongs to the group of the membranophones. You do not blow into but, but sing into it similar to the ancient technique of comb-blowing. You sing against a membrane, which distorts the tone by its vibration so that a slight saxophone sound is created. The tone heights depends solely on the tone that is sung into it. In the 20s of the last century there were kazoo-orchestras. The instrument also used to be a melody instrument at that time. Nowadays it counts as an effect. Kazoos are made out of different materials. Each material has it´s own sound. Kazoos out of metal sound lighter and more stable than the inexpensive variations made of plastic. The noble kazoos are made of wood and sound soft and warm.
